Created by artist Dean Lauzé and unveiled on February 13, 2013, the statue honours all professional and volunteer firefighters who have lost their liv​es in the line of duty within British Columbia. The term "Last Alarm" has become a reference to a firefighter who has given their life while performing their duty.
A memorial service for fallen firefighters takes place each year at the beginning of March.
The Fallen Firefighters' Memorial is located within the Legislative Precinct to the east of the back of the Parliament Buildings, along a pathway dedicated to honouring the fallen first responders of British Columbia.
