British Columbia's Statutory Officers play an important part in holding the government accountable to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and to the public. Statutory Officers help the Members of the Legislative Assembly monitor and assess government programs, procedures and performance. Statutory officers serve for fixed terms that vary according to the statute governing each position.
