E-Resources for MLAs and Assembly Staff

These databases and e-resources can be used to search for journal, news, and magazine articles as well as documents, reports, and ebooks. There are also tools to assist with language learning, grant requests, and legislative research.

The Legislative Library provides access to these e-resources for their primary clients. Remote users will be asked to log in with their Assembly ID (first initial and last name). ​

Canadian Newsstream​
Access Canadian national and leading regional papers. Includes the Vancouver Sun, Province, Times Colonist and Globe and Mail.

ProQuest Central
Multidisciplinary database. Find articles on politics, business, economics, health, science, education, technology, social sciences and law. Also includes access to Canadian, U.S., and international newspapers, dissertations and Hoover's Company Records

Canadian Business & Current Affairs Complete
Comprehensive bibliographic full-text reference and current events database. CBCA is updated daily with full-text content (1985 to present) and bibliographic content (1971 to present). Fully searchable abstracts are available for all full-text articles. Subject coverage is comprehensive and information is available from a broad range of Canadian sources.

Globe and Mail Archive​
Digitized, full-image PDF archive of the Globe and Mail back to 1844. Includes every news story, photograph, map, advertisement, classified ad, political cartoon, birth and death notice, and more.

British Columbia Historical Newspapers
Features full-text access to 125 plus years of BC historical news, features, editorials, ads, and images. Available to any BC or Yukon resident and includes the Vancouver Sun (1912-2010), the Times-Colonist (1884-2010) and The Province (1894-2010). Access made possible by the BC Electronic Library Network, the BC Libraries Cooperative, and Focused Education Resources.

HeinOnline Core (Canada)
An online full-text database of legal materials and government publications including access to the Provincial Statutes of Canada, Revised Statutes of Canada, and Canada Supreme Court Reports. Also includes some American, British and International content. All are exact replicas of the original print publications, and all are fully searchable.
