Treasures from the Library Vault
A free, hour-long learning program that provides a close look at fragile, unique, and valuable items stored in the Legislative Library vault.
You can join this program in-person onsite at the Legislative Assembly, or over Zoom.
In-person attendance is capped at 25. Visitors should arrive at the Main Entrance of the Parliament Buildings ten minutes early to pass through security screening. If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible.
Online sessions are offered via Zoom. Once your reservation is confirmed, you will be emailed an invitation with a link to the session.

Friday November 22, 2:00 pm: Premiers in Profile
Explore how the role of the Premier evolved over time, and examine items from the collections of three notable Premiers from the province’s history.

Friday December 13, 2:00 pm: The Politics and Holidays of Charles Dickens
Learn how Charles Dickens’ time as a parliamentary reporter changed his stories, and how his stories changed the world.

Celebrate the Season
Light Up Event - Friday, November 29
The Celebrate the Season program begins with the event to Light Up the Parliament Buildings on Friday, November 29.
Join us inside for musical performances and activities from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. The ceremony to light up the Parliament Buildings will then be held outside on the front driveway starting at 6:00 pm.
The event is free and advance registration is not required.

Hallowe'en
Join us in October for two different Halloween programs.
Trick or Treating at the Parliament Buildings
On October 31 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm, children and families are invited to Trick or Treat at the B.C. Parliament Buildings. Join us to enjoy some spooky treats and participate in festive activities! There is no need to register for Trick or Treating—simply come to the Parliament Buildings in your Hallowe’en costume and have fun!
The Haunted Life of Francis Rattenbury
Each October, learn the chilling tale of The Haunted Life of Francis Rattenbury in a free, hour-long theatrical tour. Additional information will be released closer to October.
Tea and Tour
This program includes a light breakfast in the Parliamentary Dining Room followed by a guided walking tour with a costumed member of the Parliamentary Players Program.
Visitors can expect to explore the history and significance of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and engage directly with an historical character from British Columbia’s past.
Cost:
$16 per person (includes sales tax and gratuity).
Time:
Each session runs from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
