Members' Compensation
The following report contains a collective summary of basic compensation paid to 87 Members, and additional salaries for certain positions, as authorized by sections 2(1) and 4(1) of the Members' Remuneration and Pensions Act. Details of each category provided in the notes section are an integral part of this report.
Members' Remuneration and Expenses
Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in British Columbia receive a basic annual compensation of $119,532.72, with additional salaries for specific positions based on a percentage of this basic compensation, and participate in a defined-benefit pension plan with fixed contributions and specific eligibility criteria.
Members' Public Disclosure Statements, Notices of Material Change, and Gifts
The Conflict of Interest Commissioner oversees the annual public disclosure process for Members of the Legislative Assembly. The Clerk publishes Public Disclosure Statements and Notices of Material Change online, accessible for five years post-Parliament dissolution.
Public Accounts 2023/24 - Detailed Schedule of Payments
Information on Members' travel expenses and capital city living expenses is disclosed on an annual basis in the Public Accounts of British Columbia. The most recent information available in the Public Accounts reports is for expenses paid in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.
