The Parliament Buildings are located on the traditional territories of the ləkʷəŋən (pronounced Le-KWUNG-en) Peoples, now known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, where we are privileged to work.

How We Work

As the Legislative Assembly Administration, we are dedicated and proud to support parliamentary democracy in British Columbia. Situated on the beautiful grounds of the Parliament Buildings, our workplace offers a front-row seat to history in the making with a unique blend of innovation and tradition. Driven by a shared sense of purpose and commitment to stewardship over this democratic institution, we deliver impartial services that enable the work of elected Members. Our work is meaningful because we play a direct role in supporting the heart of parliamentary democracy and serving the Legislative Assembly.

What We Do

We provide essential services and infrastructure vital to an accessible democratic institution. As a non-partisan organization, we work in a variety of roles and environments to provide services and infrastructure which support the Legislative Assembly of B.C. and its Members. 

The Legislative Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

We employ regular and auxiliary employees in a variety of roles, including administrative, management, operational, outreach, professional and research services. Auxiliary employees are employed to accommodate fluctuations in the workload of the Assembly, such as when the Legislature is in session and when parliamentary committees are meeting in Victoria or in communities throughout the province.

Location, location, location – We provide employment in an architectural landmark, the Parliament Buildings, which overlooks Victoria's Inner Harbour on the edge of the downtown core, close to shops, restaurants, cafes and parks.

Retirement benefits – We offer a generous pension plan with the Public Service Pension Plan where contributions are made by both the employee and Legislative Assembly. This pension plan provides employees with a lifetime monthly pension when they retire.

Vacation benefits – We offer four weeks of annual vacation time to start, or 8 percent vacation pay.
