Because of the considerable amount of parliamentary business that occurs whenever the Legislative Assembly is sitting, there is a chance that debates on motions will either be interrupted or be otherwise unable to be completed during a single sitting (a sitting is the period of time in the day when MLAs meet). When these interruptions occur, debates on motions can be placed on the Orders of the Day for the next sitting of the Assembly, at which they will be taken up in debate once more.
According the Standing Order 32, if a motion under debate is interrupted or if the Assembly adjourns, that motion must be given precedence in the next Orders of the Day that involve any similar debates. However, the Government House Leader still maintains discretion over what business is called for debate at each sitting.
